Getting Started

This guide walks you through setting up Family Todo and connecting it with Claude.

1. Create an Account

  1. Open the Family Todo app at todos.levinkeller.de
  2. Click “Register”
  3. Enter your email address and password
  4. Confirm your email address

2. Connect Claude

Family Todo is administered exclusively through Claude. Here’s how to set up the connection:

In Claude Desktop App

  1. Open Claude Desktop
  2. Go to Settings → MCP Servers
  3. Click “Add Server”
  4. Enter the MCP URL: https://mcp.todos.levinkeller.de/mcp
  5. Claude will redirect you to login
  6. Sign in with your Family Todo credentials
  7. Confirm the connection

In Claude.ai (Web)

  1. Open claude.ai
  2. Go to Settings → Connections
  3. Search for “Family Todo” or add the URL manually
  4. Follow the OAuth flow to authenticate

3. Create Your First Family

Once Claude is connected, you can get started. Simply write:

“Create a new family called ‘Smith Family’”

Claude will create the family and return the details.

4. Add Children

“Add two children to the Smith Family: Max (blue) and Lisa (pink)”

Each child gets their own color for the kiosk view.

5. Create Tasks

“Create the following tasks for Max: Do homework, Clean room, Take out trash”

Or more detailed:

“Give Lisa the task ‘Practice piano’ with high priority”

6. Open Kiosk View

The kiosk view is designed for children:

  1. Open https://todos.levinkeller.de/
  2. Select the child
  3. The child sees their tasks and can check them off

Tip: Save the kiosk URL as a bookmark on a tablet that sits in the kitchen or children’s room.

Example Workflows

Set Up Morning Routine

“Create a morning routine for both children with tasks: Brush teeth, Get dressed, Have breakfast, Pack school bag”

Create Weekly Plan

“What do Max and Lisa still have to do this week?”

Edit Task

“Change Max’s task ‘Homework’ to ‘Math homework‘“

Delete Task

“Delete Lisa’s task ‘Take out trash‘“
